Proposed Boundary Change:
Affected Schools:
Desert Canyons Elementary School, Secondary Desert Hills Cone Site (Sunrise Ridge Intermediate, Desert Hills Middle, Desert Hills High), Secondary Dixie Cone Site (Tonaquint Intermediate, Dixie Middle, Dixie High)
Proposed Change:
Students living in the area South of Enterprise Drive (industrial park) and along River Road (East of River Road) to the southern parkway and west to I15. It also would include the developed area of Desert Color – East of I15 to the Arizona border and to the exit/on ramp of River Road. The students living in this area would attend the Dixie Cone Site beginning August 2025.
Students currently enrolled in grades 6 through 12 would have the option to remain in the Desert Hills boundary (Desert Hills High, Desert Hills Middle, and Sunrise Ridge Intermediate), however no bus transportation would be provided.

Principal Hurt Welcome Letter
Dear Desert Color Families!
We understand that the new school boundary changes that were approved by our school board have directly impacted you and your family. Whether you choose to attend Desert Hills Middle or adjust with the boundary change to Dixie Middle School, we are unitedly committed to providing a quality education for your children, and in helping you make a seamless transition into the upcoming school year.
We want you to know that you are WELCOME to choose either school and we look forward to getting to know you if you attend DMS. We recognize that there are pros and cons to making this important decision and are here to help you in any way we can.
You should know that your child(ren) in current grades 6th-11th will continue to be enrolled in the Desert Hills cone site schools unless you decide to change schools to the Dixie cone site schools to align with the new boundary change. You should also know that transportation will ONLY be provided for your children if they are attending the Dixie cone site schools.
What do you need to do? If you choose to attend Dixie Schools (Tonaquint Intermediate, Dixie Middle or Dixie High School), you’ll need to let the schools know via this Google Form so that we can get them registered for school at Dixie cone site boundary schools next year. Please complete this form before February 1 if possible. If you choose to attend Desert Hills, you’ll need to provide daily transportation to and from the school each day, but you’re already enrolled in Desert Hills cone site and registration will be done with the rest of the student body at the regular time.
Again, we know this decision isn’t easy. We value you and your family and would love to see you at either of our schools. We are grateful to be a part of our greater Washington County School District and know that regardless of which school you choose, we are committed to providing your students with the best education and opportunities possible.
Sincerely,
Paul Hurt, Principal

Our goal is to focus on “what matters most”; we organize just a few events to support students and staff each year.
