IMPORTANT UPDATE ON SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION ELIGIBILITY
Dear Washington County School District Families,
We wanted to let you know about an important change to student transportation eligibility based on a new law passed this legislative session. This change primarily affects 6th-grade students, who were previously eligible for busing if they lived more than 1.5 miles from school. Under the new guidelines, 6th graders must live more than 2 miles from their school to qualify for bus transportation.
Beginning in August 2025 (the start of the new school year) school bus transportation will be provided as follows:
-
Grades K-5: Students living more than 1.5 miles from their school will be eligible for busing.
-
Grades 6-12: Students living more than 2 miles from their school will be eligible for busing.
We understand that changes to transportation services can impact families, and we appreciate your patience as we implement this new law. If you have any questions about your student’s eligibility or need further clarification, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the district transportation office at 435-652-4721.
Thank you for being so supportive as we work to provide safe and efficient transportation for our students.
