Mental Health Assistance Program (MHAP)
The school district has partnered with local therapists to provide 5 free therapy sessions to students. Families MUST schedule the first therapy appointment within 2 WEEKS after the paperwork is approved. To sign up students for this program, please scan the QR code below. A school counselor will be notified when a student is referred.
Personal Empowerment Program (PEP)
|
This group is run by an instructor from Southwest Behavioral Health. Students who join the group will attend at rotating times each week so they do not miss the same class each week. Each session will last 30 minutes. We know many students want to be with their friends at school. What a better way to meet up with their friends than in an environment where they will learn skills for communication, coping, problem solving, and goal setting! TeamRaw
TEAM RAW is a youth outreach mentoring program. Their goal is to empower youth in crisis to find motivation and to continue on that road to success. The DMS mentors, Bear and Nate, visit with students once a week for about 30 minutes. Students can be signed up for TEAMRAW by contacting a school counselor.
Dove Center Group for Girls
The DOVE Center provides evidence-based prevention education to female students. The class, titled Healthy Relationships, teaches girls how to communicate effectively, set personal boundaries, support one another, and resolve conflicts. Contact a school counselor to sign up for the Dove Center group.
Short Term, Solution-Focused School Counseling
As school counselors, our mission is to empower students by teaching them life skills in short-term, solution-focused sessions. These skills include how to cope with anxiety and grief, solve problems, identify and regulate emotions, create healthy boundaries, and communicate effectively. Meetings with the school counselor will take place at an appropriate time during the school day. Students may confidentially share their feelings and experiences as appropriate. Every effort will be made to respect family privacy, and there is no intent to discuss sensitive issues; however, the law requests that we remind you that unexpected subjects may arise as children express their feelings. You will be notified under the following circumstances:
1 – The student reveals information about hurting himself/herself or another person.
2 – The student or another person may be in physical danger.
Thank you for trusting us to support your student. It is a responsibility we do not take lightly. We deeply care about our students and want the very best for them!
